Willingness to Serve Christ

Acts 1:8~"but you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth."

As Christians, this is our calling today. So many people take the word "missionary" and take it to mean: to go off to a far away country to live and proclaim the Word of God. While this is what a so called "missionary" does, being a missionary doesn't JUST consist of getting on a plane and flying to China...or Yemen...or Romania! The verse above calls us, Christians, to be "witnesses".

Some may say, "God's calling on my life is not to be a missionary." If you are a Christian, this is a lie. Jesus was talking to the apostles in this verse (they were in Jerusalem) and he told them to be His witnesses in Jerusalem (their city), in Judea (their country), Samaria (another country), and to the ends of the earth (self explanatory!). The apostles were followers of Christ and if we are truly followers of Him, then we are His servants just as they were. We are ALL called to proclaim the word of Christ where we live.

Witnessing to folks in America is just as important as witnessing to people on the other side of the world. We all need Christ just the same. The U.S. is one of the largest unreached people groups. Being a light for Jesus here is being obedient to the passage above. One day Christ will come and EVERY knee WILL bow and EVERY tongue CONFESS that Jesus IS Lord!

Are you willing to serve Christ? Are you scared what others will think of you? That they will shun you, or not want to be your friend anymore? Well Jesus DIED for you, He wasn't scared to shed His INNOCENT blood for mine and your wickedness. Are you willing to suffer for the cause of Christ just like He suffered for you?

A Warm Up...

All of human kind is guilty of sin. Why should we have the opportunity to go to Heaven when we die? We shouldn't!
"For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life."~John 3:16
"For God so loved the world..." He loves us SO much that He sent His Son to DIE on the cross for our failures. Knowing this, we still sin consciously constantly. "... that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life." All He wants us to do is believe in Him. He loves us so much that He is giving us an opportunity to get away from eternal damnation.
No one deserves this love, the love that this Father has for us. The Father that sent HIS Son to DIE on a cross for us!
There are so many things that I have done in my lifetime, one is rejecting Christ! There are sins I've committed that only God and I know about. But apart from all of my iniquities, He still loves me.
There is forgiveness for all sin. There is a God who loves you and wants you to trust in Him so that you can spend eternity with Him.
